Dan Deacon Releases New “Fell Into the Ocean” Video Drawing Awareness to Meditation

American artist Dan Deacon released a music video for his track “Fell Into the Ocean” on Thursday. The song is off his latest album Mystic Familiar, released last month via Domino.

Being truly honest, open and vulnerable can bring about feelings of anxiety sometimes, and in Deacon’s new video he explores just how to deal with those worries.

Directed by Ariel Fish, the video features a guided meditation deck of cards created by Deacon himself. The meditation cards tie into the whole concept of Mystic Familiar through a three-stage guided meditation.

“Dan and I originally connected over Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies, which is a deck of cards used to help you creatively unblock yourself,” says Fish in a statement. “In the video we wanted to do a sort of homage to Oblique Strategies by creating a deck of cards featuring ‘Fell Into The Ocean’ lyrics which would encourage the characters to find answers to their dilemmas within.”

Deacon is embarking on a lengthy North American tour, on which his mediation cards will be available for purchase.
