Concert to Honor David Bowie Will Occur on the Anniversary of His Death

Unbelievably, the first anniversary of David Bowie’s death is quickly approaching. It’s just been announced that an ensemble of musicians with whom he collaborated will honor him with a big concert of Bowie music on that day, Jan. 10, 2017.

The event will take place at New York City’s Terminal 5, and will include players like Mike Garson, Adrian Belew, Earl Slick, Mark Plati and Gail Ann Dorsey, many of the primary musicians who recorded and toured with the legendary artist.

The event is part of that group’s larger international tour, called Celebrating David Bowie. Proceeds from the concerts will be donated to charities around the world, like the U.K.’s Children & the Arts.

A statement clarifies the tour is “far from a tribute and never referred to as one.” Instead, it is:

This is the first and last time this inner circle will do anything like this and these shows are likely to be the last time that they perform his music together; sadly, this may be the closest anyone will come to a David Bowie live experience ever again.
