The Script for David Bowie’s Musical Lazarus is Being Published

The script for David Bowie’s musical is coming to bookstores everywhere. Nick Hern Books announced Wednesday that Lazarus: The Complete Book and Lyrics will be released on Nov. 10. This date overlaps with the London production of the show, which begins in October on the West End. Michael C. Hall, who starred in the show’s original New York run, is set to reprise his lead role. The book will include an introduction by script-writer Enda Walsh, and photos of Bowie with the original cast.

Lazarus debuted off-Broadway last year to critical acclaim. It was one of Bowie’s final projects before his death in January. Bowie was a collaborator and producer on the show, which featured some of his most famous music, as well as new pieces which were written for the production. Lazarus is a sequel to the 1963 novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, which was adapted into a 1976 film in which Bowie starred.

Bowie’s final public appearance before his death was at the Dec. 7 premiere of Lazarus. The show’s cast recording is set to be released on Oct. 21, with the complete book coming just a short time later.
