Dawes Announce First Leg of North American Tour

In 2016, Dawes released their fifth studio album, cheerfully titled We’re All Gonna Die. A collection of thoughtful songs, many with themes less foreboding than the album’s title would suggest, We’re All Gonna Die premiered in September of 2016—right before all hell broke loose in November. Their new record, Passwords, which is out via the band’s own HUB Records on June 22, is a forthcoming response to modern times, perhaps even to the chaos that has ensued since that hectic November. Monday, the California-based folk rockers announced a North American tour in support of Passwords, dates for which you can find below.

They announced the new album in April, followed by the release of two singles: “Living In The Future,” which has an accompanying music video, and “Crack The Case.” These new glimpses at Passwords closely resemble older Dawes music lyrically, hearkening back to something like the all-encompassing commentary of “A Little Bit Of Everything,” off their 2011 record “Nothing Is Wrong.” Musically, however, Dawes are taking a leap, employing the once-futuristic synth (maybe for the first time ever?) on “Living In The Future.”

In addition to their headlining tour, Dawes are opening for Jeff Lynne’s Electric Light Orchestra on several dates, including one at Madison Square Garden. Like their last “Evening With Dawes” tour, Dawes will play two sets with no opener during their headlining performances. Again, you can find all of Dawes’ tour dates below.
