California post-metal heroes Deafheaven have announced their sixth studio LP, Lonely People With Power. The new project will arrive March 28 via the band’s new label, Roadrunner Records. Lonely People With Power was recorded with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (St. Vincent, M83) and mixed by GodCity Studio’s Zach Weeks. The tracklist is set to feature contributions from Interpol’s Paul Banks and Boy Harsher’s Jae Matthews. It marks Deafheaven’s first full-length release since Infinite Granite in 2021, an album where the band “prove[d] they have the chops to follow the path of their choosing, wherever it may lead.”
The announcement of Lonely People With Power comes with the release of its lead single, “Magnolia.” The song should ring well with the longtime Deafheaven faithful, as it forgoes the mellowed-out, dreamy sounds of Infinite Granite for the much more chaotic, shredding roots that powered albums like Sunbather and New Bermuda 10 years ago. Watch the Sean Stout and Chelsea Jade-directed music video for “Magnolia” and check out the Lonely People With Power artwork and tracklist below.
