PREMIERE: Dear Dear Unveils New Single “Natural”

Dear Dear, the project of singer/songwriter, poet and fashion designer Chase Cohl, is releasing their debut album death of a fairytale this October. Following up lead single “A Woman’s Fault” last month, Cohl has unveiled “Natural,” a Dusty Springfield-conjuring, anthemic rock track that fuses string-heavy soul music with gospel and theatrical textures.

The song deftly layers Cohl’s singing with backing harmonies that pay immediate homage to mid-century girl groups, like The Ronettes, The Crystals and The Shangri-Las. The attitude and confidence on “Natural” is immense and reflective. The track’s retro gloss never muddies the message nor the timelessness of its soundscape. It’s a riveting introduction to Cohl’s artistry; a brilliant first chapter of an album that’s destined to dazzle.

About “Natural,” Cohl says: “I wrote this song with all of my friends in mind as an empowerment anthem in low confidence moments. Record making can get over-emotional or intense at times, and I wanted to just make a really good old school tune to boogie to, to help us feel an excitement in our bodies to move to it.”

Check out Dear Dear’s “Natural,” which is exclusively premiering here.
