Over half of new Deezer uploads are AI-generated
The streaming platform announced that the milestone had been crossed and promised to unveil new regulations surrounding AI-generated “music.”

Paris-based streaming service Deezer announced that, as of June 2026, over 50% of new uploads to its platform are fully AI-generated, up from 44% in April. The update marks the first time this milestone has been reached on the platform, with 90,000 new AI-generated tracks being added to Deezer daily. Last year alone, it identified approximately 13.4 million AI tracks on its servers, which equals roughly 1% of the 120 million songs currently available to stream on the platform. In June 2025, Deezer began tagging AI albums. In recent months, it has promised to exclude AI-generated music from its algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. The platform has also developed software dedicated to identifying AI-generated tracks.
Deezer also announced yesterday that 85% of AI-generated music streams were fraudulent. The company decided not to pay royalties for those streams, and announced that it would take down generative-AI tracks directly linked to fraudulent streams. It will also remove AI tracks that have not been streamed for six months or more. Other music platforms have taken stricter approaches to cracking down on AI music: Bandcamp has banned AI-generated tracks altogether, while Tidal has demonitized AI songs entirely.
“Deezer has been at the frontline of fighting fraud and reducing payment dilution related to AI music for almost two years,” CEO Alexis Lanternier shared in a statement. “Now that half of all daily uploads are AI-generated tracks, we are taking additional steps to safeguard the rights of artists and songwriters, while maintaining focus on music that fans actually love.”
