Listen to Dispatch’s New Song, “Only The Wild Ones”

Call them a jam band, call them a roots-rock band, call them whatever you want, but Dispatch are one of the bigger independent bands around. Last week, the band announced a countdown to to the release of their new summer North American tour dates. Today, the day has arrived for Dispatch to present the America, Location 12 Tour, which will take the band, along with supporting guests Guster, from Red Rocks in Morrison, Colo., to The Skyline Stage at The Mann Center in Philadelphia, Pa. It will be the band’s first national tour in five years.

In addition to the tour, which will also see them play at a number of festivals, including Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado and Levitate Festival in their home state of Massachusetts, the band has also given fans the first taste of their forthcoming album. When Dispatch reunited in 2011, they came prepared with a new EP, and shortly followed that up in 2012 with Circles Around the Sun, their first full-length in 12 years. While they’ve kept up a regular touring schedule, the only bit of studio material we’ve heard since then was the stand-alone single “Bound By Love,” but last year they began documenting the recording of a new album. “Only The Wild Ones” is an understated lead single, combining African-inspired guitar work with vocalist Chad Urmston’s comforting melodies and harmonies from the band’s other two members, Brad Corrigan and Pete Heimbold. It’s the kind of song you’d want to hear on a Sunday morning, or any morning, for that matter.

You can listen to “Only The Wild Ones” below, and see beneath it for the dates of the America, Location 12 Tour, along with Paste Cloud audio from Guster’s Daytrotter session in 2011.
