Canadian alt-rock band Dizzy have unleashed the fourth single off their self-titled third LP, which arrives August 18th. The tender tune explores the bittersweet ephemerality of young relationships, as inspired by a bus breakdown the band had on tour in 2019. It’s an ode to missed connections and wrong timing, the smoldering embers of countless almosts and what-ifs.
“Close” is sweet and forgiving, weary and intimate. A lone guitar riff acts as the song’s backbone, supporting lead singer Katie Munshaw’s lilting verses and swelling alongside her as the track’s choruses glimmer. Its accompanying music video is intentionally simple, an aching palate of blues and grays adding to the track’s permeating sense of gentle melancholy.
