Melania hates Donald Trump’s gay little dances
The First Lady thinks that the Village People’s “YMCA” is “not presidential,” according to the Commander in Chief himself.

It seems that the shimmier’s wife has given him the shaft. Melania Trump doesn’t like her husband, Donald Trump, dancing to the Village People’s “YMCA” at rallies, a tradition he started during his 2020 presidential campaign. According to an ABC News report, Trump has danced to the song about gay men screwing in the YMCA at over 110 rallies.
During a speaking engagement at The Villages retirement community in Florida on Friday night, Trump told the crowd that Melania “hates when I dance to what’s sometimes referred to as ‘the gay national anthem,’ you know that.” But Trump’s love for the Village People remains unshaken: “We love that song.” He continued: “She goes, ‘Darling, please’—you know, she’s a very elegant woman—she goes, ‘Darling, please don’t dance. It’s not presidential.”
In a January Fox News interview, Melania told Jesse Watters, “I like [‘YMCA’] at certain times. Some days it’s not appropriate, and I told him so. But it’s his dance and I think people love it.” Melania’s “YMCA” rap sheet isn’t squeaky clean, though. At her husband’s second inauguration, she danced to the song but maintains that it’s “different than his.”
Village People lead singer and “YMCA” co-writer Victor Willis has denied the song’s reputation as a “gay anthem”: “I knew nothing the Y being a hangout for gays when I wrote the lyrics,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “And when I say, ‘hang out with all the boys’ that is simply 1970s black slang for black guys hanging-out together for sports, gambling or whatever. There’s nothing gay about that.” I don’t know, Victor… that sounds pretty gay to me.
The group’s manager, Karen Willis, previously sent a cease-and-desist letter to Trump, demanding that he stop using “YMCA” (and other Village People songs) at his events. But Trump obviously doesn’t want to let go of his gay anthem. After his Villages speech on Friday, the President busted a move to “YMCA” yet again, this time adding in a golf swing.
