Listen to Glenn Schwartz’s “Daughter of Zion,” Featuring Dan Auerbach and Joe Walsh

Later this summer, Easy Eye Sound will unveil Tell Everybody!, an album that anthologizes some of the most important and undersung blues work of the last century. The latest single from the compilation is “Daughter of Zion,” an original composition from the late Glenn Schwartz, an Ohio blues guitarist who mentored both Dan Auerbach and Joe Walsh and was an original member of James Gang—a band that would later feature the latter. Auerbach and Walsh, along with The Arcs as a backing band, helped Schwartz bring “Daughter of Zion” to fruition, which he was able to record and complete just before his passing in 2018.

Auerbach says of the collaboration: “Glenn was my biggest rock ‘n’ roll inspiration. There would be no Black Keys without Glenn Schwartz, that’s for sure. I really miss him. He was a sweet man who loved the lord and loved music so much. I really respected his conviction.”
