Elle Belle Premieres Video For “The Real World”

Christopher Pappas has had quite a career already. To date, his credits include writing music for NASA, creating a musical for off-Broadway and fronting the band The Everyday Visuals. But for his latest trick, this L.A. artist is set to achieve something even more ambitious: breaking up with the United States of America.

On No Signal, his latest album recorded under the name Elle Belle, Pappas is taking aim at his disgust at the current state of political affairs and looking for a way out. After the 2016 election, he spent a lot of time, holed up and watching the world twist and turn as a result. What came out of Pappas was music. “I realized that it felt like I was writing a break up album. I was going through all the same stages of grief.” he says laughing, “Everything was a love song gone wrong so I kept following that feeling.”

Impressively, the music isn’t despairing on No Signal. Pappas instead enjoys a little synthpop dance party on the ashes of American flags. He’s reached that final stage of the grieving process—acceptance—and is ready to shake and shimmy his way to his next great love affair.

Today, he premieres with us the first video from this new album, which captures the vibe of this record perfectly in its computerized dystopic dance off. Check it out here and check out his upcoming tour dates below.

No Signal is out on June 29th via the Little Record Company.
