After concluding their co-headlining tour with Blondie, Elvis Costello & The Imposters will be hitting the road for the “Just Trust” tour in October.
Acting as the sole headliners, the singer and his band will tackle the East Coast, Midwest and South during the tour, which is just a bit longer than a month. Costello most recently released the 2018 album Look Now, which featured music from his backing band The Imposters. The Imposters are made up of Steve Nieve on keys, Pete Thomas on drums, and Davey Faragher on bass and backing vocals, as well as backup singers Kitten Kuroi and Briana Lee.
The tour is set to answer some musical questions, according to a press release: “Will they play my favourite song?,” or, “Are they going to frighten the horses with a lot of excellent songs that are rarely performed?,” not to mention, “Can I expect the hits of yesteryear and those of tomorrow?” The tour’s answer to all these is right there in the title: “Just Trust.”
Costello had to cancel his European tour in 2018 due to his cancer diagnosis. The singer-songwriter described the diagnosis as “a small but very aggressive cancerous malignancy.” Never specifying the exact form of cancer, Costello warned his fellow men to regularly keep an eye on their own health. In an interview with CBS This Morning, Costello set the record straight that he is in recovery after surgery, and that the extent of his diagnosis was blown out of proportion.
