Eric B. & Rakim to Reunite for First Performance in Over 20 Years
Duo will mark 30th anniversary of Paid in Full at the Apollo on July 7
It’s been 25 years (omg!) since we last heard from hip-hop pioneers Eric B. & Rakim—at least, on record. They’ve has been dormant since 1992’s groundbreaking album Don’t Sweat the Technique, with both members making solo records sporadically in the years since. Now comes word that the duo will reunite on July 7 at New York’s Apollo Theatre to mark the 30th anniversary of another classic album, Paid in Full.
As the poster for the show points out, it’s been over 20 years since the Long Island-bred rappers appeared onstage together.
However, a possible comeback has been in the cards since at least last fall, when the duo teased fans with a series of Tweets about a new tour.
Preparations are under way for #EricBandRakim’s return. It’s been a long time…
