Watch Father John Misty’s God’s Favorite Customer Making-Of Video

Father John Misty can’t seem to stay out of the headlines.

Last week, Josh Tillman released his alter ego’s fourth LP, God’s Favorite Customer, to the tune of warm reviews (including one from us here at Paste). Then, on Wednesday morning, we found out he made another new song, “Gilded Cage,” for the Hotel Artemis soundtrack, which comes out this Friday, June 8, in tandem with the action movie’s release. Also on Wednesday, he dropped a new video, “The Making of God’s Favorite Customer,” which lays out in fuzzy details some of the production behind Father John Misty’s latest. You can watch the four minutes of behind-the-scenes footage below.

The video shows Tillman tooling around in the studio, recording bits of his new music and aimlessly laying down tambourine beats, among other tasks. Look closely, and you’ll observe the products of a focused artist at work: cigarette butts strewn across the patio, tiny notebooks packed with scrawlings and, of course, plenty of brooding glances.
