Exclusive: Watch Fatherson’s New Video for Punchy Single “Ghost”

Glasgow’s Fatherson have shared a new video for “Ghost,” a single taken from their 2018 album and third LP Sum of All Your Parts.

“Ghost” displays Fatherson’s knack for both subtle, intricate guitar lines and cacophonous, payoff riffs worth every moment of tension building. They clearly aren’t afraid of a rousing, mammoth-sized chorus, either. In a time when slacker rock and bedroom pop are very in, it’s refreshing to hear a rock chorus that sounds colossal enough to blare out of a car window or from a PA at a large music venue.

The band say of the inspiration behind the song, ”‘Ghost’ is a song about feeling like you’re not really welcome anywhere and aimless in wander. Sometimes you just don’t have a clue what’s going on and you lose sight of keeping an open dialogue about what you need and want from others. The lyric ‘loose lips burning ships down by the coast’ is about other people having different expectations of outcome and when those expectations aren’t met manifesting into resentment. Loose lips sink ships.”

They add of their new video, “We fell in love with the idea of shooting a video on film and fell in love with how Ben (Cowie) worked. His ability to take a simple performance concept and turn it into a beautiful, colourful, passionate piece of film was exactly what we wanted. This song is a ball of frantic energy, and this video carries that message with grace and style.”

Fatherson will be performing later this week at New York’s New Colossus Festival and then the following week at SXSW in Austin.
