EXCLUSIVE: Floodlights Premiere Music Video For “Things You Do”

On the heels of their recently released LP Painting of My Time, Melbourne-based indie rockers Floodlights have unveiled a music video for “Things You Do.” Painting of My Time—which was produced by Andrew Savours (Black Country, New Road, My Bloody Valentine, Arctic Monkeys) and mastered by Joe Carra (Amyl & The Sniffers, King Gizzard)—is a brilliant, intimate and deeply reflective lyrical benchmark for the band, whose dynamic rock ‘n’ roll pedigree steamrolled right into their sophomore album perfectly. After supporting Pavement and Black Midi and performing alongside Arctic Monkeys in recent months—and dazzling at SXSW in March—Painting of My Time cements Floodlights’ profound potential.

“Things You Do” is a standout track from the record that showcases co-lead vocalist Louis Parsons’ range and the band’s incredible alchemy that gets halved as the song pours from your speakers. As one guitar turbulently riffs in one ear, a glitzy, ethereal arpeggio perfects the balance in the other. Parsons sings of longing and uncertainty: “I’ve looked at it from many ways and I can’t understand the things you do / What is it that can draw me in but always stays just outside of view?”
