Florence + The Machine Announce Intimate U.S. Shows

Florence + The Machine have announced intimate U.S. and U.K. shows this spring.

Florence Welch and her band are set to perform at New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music on May 13-14, and at Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall on May 21. Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 27 at 10 a.m. local time. Before Welch and company cross the Atlantic for some U.S. shows, they will also perform in the U.K. at Halifax’s Victoria Theatre, Scunthorpe’s Scunthorpe Baths Hall and London’s Royal Festival Hall.

On Twitter, Welch announced that one dollar of every ticket to the band’s Brooklyn shows will be donated to Win (Women in Need), which provides services to homeless women and their families in New York City, and one dollar of every ticket to their Los Angeles show will be donated to Downtown Women’s Center, which empowers homeless women and former homeless women to reach personal stability through housing and wellness.

Welch and her band recently unveiled their first new song since 2016, “Sky Full Of Song,” which was backed by a recording of “New York Poem (for Polly)” and released on Record Store Day as a limited edition 7”. “New York Poem (for Polly)” is taken from Welch’s forthcoming book Useless Magic, a collection of lyrics, artwork and poetry offering a unique, personal insight into her creative process. Useless Magic is Welch’s first book and it is set for release July 5 via Crown Publishing/Penguin.
