Frank Ocean’s Latest Albums Won’t Be Considered at the Grammys This Year

Music News Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean’s long-awaited LP Blonde and the visual album Endless would likely have been competitive Grammy contenders, except that neither Ocean nor his representatives submitted them for consideration … and the deadline has now passed.

Is this intentional disregard or an honest mistake? Hard to say. It’s not like Frank Ocean’s one for transparency and disclosure. (Update: A source close to Ocean confirmed to Billboard that the albums were intentionally not submitted, but didn’t explain why.)

Ocean was nominated for five Grammys in 2013 after the release of his highly acclaimed album Channel Orange. He won two, for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“No Church in the Wild” with Kanye West, Jay Z, and The-Dream).

It seems like this is the week for artists to brush off esteemed awards. The Nobel Prize Committee’s probably feeling terribly insecure right now, and now the Grammys can join the pity party.
