Frankie Cosmos are prepping the release of their new record, Close it Quietly. While you’ll still have to wait until September to get your hands on the full album, the Brooklyn indie rockers shared another taste on Tuesday.
“Rings (On A Tree)” is short but sweet. The guitar line that centers the track is reminiscent of The Strokes, while arpeggiating synths jitter in the back of the mix. Greta Kline reflects on a crumbled relationship with sugary vocals, reckoning with how exes leave indelible marks on one’s life: “Now I see that I was always me / Underneath everything I am and tried to be,” she sings as the guitar slows down, ending the track with the melancholic admission, “Now I see that there is always you / Turning up in everything I do.”
