Frankie Cosmos have revealed a new track from their forthcoming album, Vessel, out on March 30 via Sub Pop.
Following the previously released “Jesse” and “Being Alive,” their new track, “Apathy,” is an intimate slacker-pop break-up tune with the band’s frontperson Greta Kline wearing her vulnerabilities and naiveté proudly on her sleeve. It concludes with her reveling in newfound clarity: “You could take me and my apathy / Turn us into clarity.”
Vessel is the band’s first album since signing to Sub Pop in April 2017 and their first full-length since 2016’s Next Thing, which Paste named one of the best albums of 2016. According to a press release, the 18-track Vessel features several “instrumental first or second-takes, highlighting a newfound collective energy felt by the band’s four members after months of touring, practicing and arranging together.”
The band will embark on their Vessel world tour beginning in April, and they’ve also added new U.S. and European dates in May and June. They will play shows alongside Belle & Sebastian, Perfume Genius, Lomelda, Florist, Lala Lala, Ian Sweet and SOAR.
