Gorman is just 23, but the Australian singer already has the chops to deliver the kind of wry rock fans of Jonathan Richman or Courtney Barnett (a friend of his, who recently appeared in the music video for “Shiny Gun”) will flip over. Gorman and his band stopped by the Paste Studio during CMJ recently to record a cover of Wilco’s “Passenger Side”—which you can check out in the player above—as well as several other cuts from his album Slow Gum.
