Kash Patel’s girlfriend sings at Freedom 250 concert
Alexis Wilkins, a country singer with 5,600 monthly listeners on Spotify, told naysayers she was chosen on merit after a host of original high-profile performers dropped out.

Up until a month ago, everything had been prepared for a one-of-one celebration of the United States’ 250th birthday. Flo Rida, The Commodores, Bret Michaels, and Vanilla Ice were among those chosen to perform; the reflecting pool was to be touched up; a UFC tournament was to be held on the White House’s South Lawn, where visiting monarchs are more commonly received. Then, like the reflecting pool’s own paint, Freedom 250’s musical event began to peel.
Following widespread backlash, most of the musicians dropped out, saying the event had become more partisan than they had been promised. (This even before the UFC fight, during which one fighter shouted, “Michelle Obama is a man!” to rile up the crowd.) Short on headliners, Freedom 250’s organizers searched far and wide for a replacement. Who was talented enough? Famous enough? Patriotic enough?
The answer was within the walls of Quantico itself. It was announced this week that Alexis Wilkins, the longtime girlfriend of embattled FBI director Kash Patel, would perform at the June 24 Freedom 250 event on the National Mall. “What a great honor to be a part of the 250th birthday of this great nation!” Wilkins posted, alongside an image of herself superimposed over the Washington Monument.
Folks weren’t too pleased by the selection, to which Wilkins responded, “Let’s just get a few things straight…I have been a country music artist for years now. I have had a successful career in both music and commentary/strategy…I was invited to sing this anthem on my own accord, as I have been many other places throughout my career.” Supporters quickly echoed her defense. They seem to have forgotten, however, to listen to the music itself. Wilkins currently has 5,620 monthly listeners on Spotify. In fairness, there’s not much to listen to: she has released just nine songs so far, none since 2023.
