Frightened Rabbit to Release The Midnight Organ Fight Covers Album

Scottish indie-rock outfit Frightened Rabbit are taking a different approach to celebrating the 10th anniversary of their sophomore album The Midnight Organ Fight. No reissue, no live album, no world tour—instead, a reimagined covers edition of the release.

To “celebrate everyone who had been a part of the last ten years of the band,” Frightened Rabbit asked friends, past collaborators and peers to record their own interpretations of the album’s tracklist.

“We’ve shared studios, vans, bars, dressing rooms and probably even underwear with some of these people and that’s why this record is so special to us,” the band wrote in a statement posted to their Twitter account.

The band’s frontman and founding member Scott Hutchison passed away in 2018 after the band embarked on a 10-year anniversary tour in support of The Midnight Organ Fight. The band was already in the process of approving the tracklist and preparing the artwork, and the album was “something he was very excited about and worked hard to bring to life.”

“This is a celebration of a record that connected thousands of people to Scott and connected thousands of people to each other and ten years on it is still managing to do it,” the band wrote.

The release shares its name with the mental health charity established by Hutchison’s family, Tiny Changes.

The band is currently partnering with music gear marketplace Reverb to auction off used equipment to benefit the charity. 50% of the profits from the sale of the equipment will go towards Tiny Changes.

The band hinted Tiny Changes will be released on July 12 and an option to preorder the album will be made available soon. Stay tuned for further updates on the album’s release.
