Gia Margaret Announces New Album Romantic Piano

Today, Chicago-based multi-instrumentalist Gia Margaret announced Romantic Piano, the highly anticipated predecessor to her 2020 LP Mia Gargaret. Another chapter in Margaret’s exploration into evoking narratives and emotions through wordless compositions, Romantic Piano is a brief, piano-driven project that pairs field recordings with complex, percussive arrangements. Following the lead single “Cicadas,” Margaret has released “Hinoki Wood,” a cozy, two-minute odyssey that conjures an ivory loop you might hear on Jon Brion’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind score. Under the warm compass of a candelabra, Romantic Piano is an evocative, inspired oasis.

“Romantic Piano was written with a beginner’s mind,” Margaret says. “For this collection, I thought: ‘What if I could clear my head of all the things I have learned about the piano? What would those songs sound like?’ I wanted to make music that was useful.”
