Girlpool Release Tender New Single/Video “It Gets More Blue”

Girlpool is a great band and their debut album Before the World Was Big is a great record. Next month, they’re following up that LP with Powerplant, and now have a new track/video to share.

“It Gets More Blue” is in the vein of the duo’s earlier work: There are gentle bits of strumming that grow in volume, and whispered vocals about fraught relationships and finding a place in the world. Harmony Tividad and Cleo Tucker are actually a couple in the clip, and don’t seem to know what comes next for them. There’s a mention of a clouded city that stands as a concise metaphor for what’s happening here. Temporary grays can give way to more permanent blues.
