Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello is an incredible character. The stories that he writes are of and for all of the crazy dreamers who have found the blurry parts of life to be the most attractive. They can’t sit still. They get lost in the fires. Their nights are deep wells, or stills. They just slip into them, backstroking in the amber drink, swallowing their fair share of the gasoline. As long as there can be a common thread, or the common threat of alcohol, these men and women are okay – they will be able to assimilate anywhere.

Here, with their shirts barely buttoned at all, the songs sound as if they’re fueled by animalistic passions, by the hands that just can’t seem to keep themselves off of the things that they’re aware aren’t great for them, by the decisions that are made when clarity’s a little bit iffy. They have that feeling of unpredictability and rambling to them, as if they could just fly off the handle at any given moment, bursting into spittle, into flames.
