“The stakes are too high for you to stay home,” art-pop singer Grimes pleads in a short clip released Monday night, urging the public to vote for Hillary Clinton on Nov. 8. The minute-long video is almost a shot-for-shot recreation of Lyndon Johnson’s iconic 1964 campaign ad, with the addition of Grimes’ hands picking flower petals in place of the original young girl.
Johnson’s ad used the image of a nuclear explosion to caution voters of the importance of their actions, paired with his famous voiceover: “We must either love each other, or we must die,” a sentiment Grimes echoed in a tweet. Watch both Grimes’ and the original versions of “Daisy” below.
