Watch HAIM Live-Debut a Groovy New Track, “Summer Girl”

Giving listeners the first taste of new music since their 2017 album Something to Tell You, HAIM performed an unreleased track titled “Summer Girl” for the first time this week.

During their July 17 performance at the Teragram Ballroom is Los Angeles, the sisters decided to break out the unreleased song, and, oh, is it a reminder of how much we’ve missed HAIM.

Dedicated to Lou Reed before the song began, the performance of the track features Danielle’s signature vocals, Este’s funky bass line and Alana on the tambourine. Fitted with a stand-up bass, saxophone and plenty of harmonious do-dos from the sisters, the track is a groovy summer hit—albeit unreleased.

The sister act teased their new track earlier this week, sharing what would appear to be its single art on social media, which suggests an official release in the offing:

Despite not having any of their own music since Something to Tell You, HAIM have recently performed with Vampire Weekend on multiple occasions after Danielle was featured on a couple tracks from Vampire Weekend’s latest album, Father Of The Bride.

Watch a fan-shot video of HAIM’s “Summer Girl” below and revisit a 2012 performance of their song “The Wire” from the Paste archives further down.
