Listen to the Official Audio for Haim’s “Right Now”
Images via Columbia RecordsA few weeks ago, Haim announced their much-anticipated sophomore album Something to Tell You and released a live version of what is actually the album’s second official single, “Right Now.” Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the live video was filmed during a recording session that showcased Haim’s energy and deep emotionalism. Now, we have the official audio for the single—listen below.
Haim released Something to Tell You’s official lead single “Want You Back” last week, and it was pretty damn good. After one listen, it became clear the band’s undeniable cohesion is as strong as ever, with a sound “that seamlessly blends Fleetwood Mac, funk and gentle electronica.” With “Right Now,” we see a slightly different direction for Haim, though it’s not unexpected that the band has evolved a bit, seeing as their first album was four years ago. The song builds from easy drum and piano beats into a emotionally lovesick ballad, all encased within the intertwining talents of Danielle, Este and Alana.
Haim are the musical guests on SNL tomorrow, May 13, so tune in for what will all but certainly be the live-TV debut of both “Right Now” and “Want You Back.”
Something to Tell You drops July 7 via Columbia Records, and it is currently available for preorder. In the meantime, take a trip down memory lane with Paste Cloud audio of Haim performing in 2012 below, beneath “Right Now,” and check out the new album’s cover art further down.
