Listen to the First Two Tracks From The Hamilton Mixtape

Yesterday, Lin-Manuel Miranda, in a surprise announcement, revealed that The Hamilton Mixtape was done and slated for release next month.

Waiting a whole month to hear the genius of Hamilton filtered through some of the best musical artists alive seemed like too long to wait, but luckily we’ve gotten a sneak peek at two tracks from the album to tide us over until the full release.

Kelly Clarkson’s rendition of “It’s Quiet Uptown” takes the somber song and turns it into the kind of soaring pop ballad Clarkson is known for.

And for their own version of “My Shot,” Hamilton superfans The Roots have recruited Joell Ortiz, Nate Ruess and legendary rapper Busta Rhymes (whose style was the inspiration for Hercules Mulligan) to write their own pump-up, carpe diem verses.

You can listen to the songs on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and pretty much wherever else you stream your music. The Hamilton Mixtape releases in full on Dec. 2.
