Hiss Golden Messenger Announce Heart Like a Levee World Tour, Share Trailer

After the announcement of an album about the turmoil and necessity of life on the road as a musician, Hiss Golden Messenger have announced that they’ll be hitting the road again soon for an extended tour spanning October through December.

Heart Like a Levee, the fifth studio album from the alt-country project led by singer-songwriter M.C. Taylor, will drop Oct. 7 via Merge Records, as announced last week. Merge teased that the album presents themes of “leaving and returning, belief and trust, guilt, honesty, and life on the road.”

Taylor said of the album:

I wrote these songs during a time of transition and doubt. The process was raw, but also joyous. I spent a lot of time with these words and chords in all types of weather. In the end I learned more about myself making this record than any in the past, and that’s one important way for me to gauge whether an album was worth making.

If the album’s catchy lead single “Biloxi” is telling of the vibe of the rest of Heart Like a Levee, Oct. 7 can’t get here fast enough. Watch a literary and ominous trailer for the tour below, featuring a colorful monologue from Taylor and a groovy little instrumental snippet. Beneath that, find the band’s full list of tour dates.
