Homeshake Shares Dreamy New Single/Video “Just Like My,” Announces North American Tour

Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist Peter Sagar has released the third single from Helium, the fourth album from his indie-pop project Homeshake, due out Feb. 15 via Sinderlyn.

The dreamy “Just Like My” follows previous advance tracks “Feeling Like Mariah” and “Nothing Could Be Better,” the latter of which we highlighted as our Daily Dose upon its release.

The “Just Like My” video is a collaboration between the Berlin-based duo of Canadian director Oliver McGarvey and German artist Eric Winkler. The clip follows a nameless protagonist played by Paula Breuer (pictured above) as she capers through the wilderness alongside a group of unearthly beings (credited as “Spirits” in the video’s description) obscured by layers of tattered fabric, like laundry piles come to life. Breuer’s character seems at turns intrigued, unsettled and enchanted by these figures, who have the apparent ability to warp the space and time around them.

Director McGarvey described the video’s creative genesis as follows:

It’s tomorrow already and you’re home now and it’s daytime but the room just tilted and you’re still floating. The chair where you throw your dirty clothes is dancing and she’s rising and the trees outside your window fill the room. The video is a gentle tribute to the tender moment between awake and asleep and a plea to stay suspended in between a little longer.

Homeshake heads to Europe next month to tour in support of Helium, and alongside today’s new single, he has also announced a North American tour to follow in mid-March. The nine-date run begins in Sagar’s Montreal hometown on March 21, hitting Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville and Chicago, among other cities, before concluding in Toronto on March 31. Homeshake will share a bill with Yves Jarvis on the newly announced run, while Pink Siifu will also join in at the March 22 Brooklyn stop.
