Hoops Announce Tapes #1-3 Vinyl Release, Share “On Letting Go” Video
Photo by Daniel TopeteIndiana indie-pop act Hoops put out their debut full-length Routines in May, and we now know what’s next for the band: the first-ever vinyl release of early Hoops works Tapes #1-3.
Hoops self-recorded and self-released said tapes before Fat Possum discovered them by way of a YouTube channel created by “Dave Osterman” (aka Hoops’ singer/guitarist Drew Auscherman). Tapes #1-3 were previously only available via an extremely limited 50-copy cassette tape run, but will now be available digitally, bundled on vinyl and cassette, out Nov. 10 via Fat Possum.
To celebrate the impending release of Tapes #1-3, Hoops have shared the video for Routines track “On Letting Go,” a fuzzy, carefree affair that sees the band performing in what looks like someone’s living room and exploring a peaceful suburban setting. The new clip follows Hoops’ previous videos for their cover of Prefab Sprout’s “Cars and Girls,” their second Routines single “On Top” and “Cool 2,” off their self-titled 2016 EP, which was their first-ever music video.
Hoops are touring through the end of the year alongside The Clientele and The Drums. You can find a show near you below, along with ticket info here. For a sense of what Hoops are like live, you can revisit our recap of their set at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Music Festival, which took place just days after the May release of Routines. We also caught them at SXSW 2017 in March.
See Hoops’ “On Letting Go” video below, and their tour dates further down. You can preorder Tapes #1-3 here, read our review of Routines here and stream the album here, and tumble down the delightful rabbit hole that is “Dave Osterman’s” YouTube channel right here.
