Hotel Lux Share Video for Tongue-in-Cheek New Track “English Disease”

London post-punk five-piece Hotel Lux have released a new track and accompanying lyric video, “English Disease.” The new track follows the release of previous singles “Daddy,” “The Last Hangman” and “Berlin Wall.”
The video includes retro footage from British football matches and traditional pubs while the song pokes fun at the dim-witted, overly masculine English lad stereotype. The chorus has the feel of a merry football chant or a drunken karaoke performance—you can almost hear the hollers, and the clinking and swigging of pints full of stout. Frontman Lewis Duffin delivers the song with a dry, art-punk humor as he cheekily name-checks everyone from Princess Diana and Danny Dyer to Frank Sinatra and Jean-Paul Sartre.
