Hovvdy’s Charlie Martin Releases New Single “Splash”

Following the deluxe edition release of his solo debut Imaginary People, Charlie Martin—one half of the Texas duo Hovvdy—has returned with new single “Splash.” Martin charts sonic territory that will be familiar to all Hovvdy fans, as he crafts a delicate, strumming indie-folk ballad. “We could do it if we tried / A dumb try, we’ll never win / You say life’s easy like no fear / Saw a big strong man / With a bat in his hand swinging / We could do it if we tried,” he sings. As always, Martin’s vocals are airy and punctuated by crisp, heavenly background harmonies. “Splash” is a beautiful, thoughtful offering.
