IDLES Pay Tribute to Her’s with Live Cover of “Harvey” in Liverpool

Bristol rockers IDLES paid tribute to the late band Her’s in their home city of Liverpool this weekend with a live cover of their Invitation to Her’s track “Harvey.” IDLES were playing at Liverpool’s 6 Music Festival this weekend, which also featured performances from Jon Hopkins, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Little Simz, Hot Chip and Gang of Four.
The band broke into “Harvey” during the last song of their set, the closer for 2018’s Joy as an Act of Resistance. titled “Rottweiler.” IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen took over lead vocal duties for the tribute cover.
Her’s was a duo made up of Stephen Fitzpatrick and Audun Laading. The pair died in a tragic accident last week along with their tour manager after being involved in a car accident while traveling to a show in Santa Ana, Calif.
“We are all heartbroken,” their label Heist or Hit wrote in a statement on Facebook. “Their energy, vibrancy and talent came to define our label. As humans, they were warm, gentle and hilarious. Each time they stopped by the office made for an uplifting experience. To say they were close would be an underestimation of a friendship that was genuinely beautiful to witness; they loved one another like brothers.”
