Independent Venue Week is all about promoting independently run music venues and after the event successfully launched in the U.K. in 2014, it will now make its U.S. debut this summer.
The event will run from July 9-15 in celebrated music venues across the country, hitting cities like Austin, Cleveland, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, New York, Seattle, Minneapolis and others. The initial shows announced so far include acts such as The Lone Bellow, Western Medication, LEV and The Get Up Kids, with more to be announced. Several of the venue dates have been confirmed, while some have yet to be locked in.
IVW is partnering with Eventbrite and Songtrust, and is being produced and promoted by Marauder.
IVW founder Sybil Bell said in a statement:
It’s so exciting to see the first edition of Independent Venue Week in the U.S. come together. We’ve been talking with the brilliant team at Marauder for a few years about making this happen. The list of founding venues announced so far is so strong. It feels like this is the perfect foundation to celebrate these spaces all across the U.S., with more amazing venues to be announced. As we celebrated our fifth birthday in the U.K. this year with a ten-fold increase in participating venues from year one, we hope we can expand in the U.S. in the same way. It sets the scene to make this a true celebration of venues globally over the coming years.
