J Mascis Debuts Dina Martina-Starring Video for Elastic Days Title Track

It’s a big week for J Mascis. The Dinosaur Jr. frontman premiered both his forthcoming album’s title track and its accompanying music video on Monday, and the album itself, Elastic Days, is set for release this Friday, Nov. 9.

Mascis has already broken out the singles “See You At The Movies,” “Everything She Said” and “Web So Dense,” and now, he has debuted the record’s title track, “Elastic Days.”

Alongside the single, Mascis premiered the official music video, featuring Seattle-based drag icon Dina Martina. She has toured New York, Los Angeles, London, Toronto and San Francisco, and shared the bill with acts such as Margaret Cho, Alan Cumming, Modest Mouse and Village People.

Against an indecipherable backdrop of the nighttime city streets, Martina appears in numerous outfits and sings along to Mascis’ song. The video was co-directed by Shane Wahlund and Michael Anderson.

“I’ve been a big Dina Martina fan for a long time,” Mascis said in a statement. “I’ve seen her perform many times over the years. I’m glad that I got her to do this video before she becomes an untouchable superstar.”

“I am amazed at how the video came out,” added Mascis. “I’m so psyched.”

Elastic Days will be Mascis’ third solo release, and follows his 2014 solo project Tied To A Star and Dinosaur Jr.’s 2016 release Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not.
