Jeff Rosenstock Announces New Album, Shares “DOUBT”

Punk and ska king Jeff Rosenstock has announced the release of his fifth studio album HELLMODE, out September 1 via Polyvinyl Records. The LP is meant to represent “the chaos of being alive right now,” Rosenstock explains. In his typical fashion, it is searing and angry, chaotic and impossibly polished. It’s a toast to an ever-approaching doomsday, a fixation common in much of Rosenstock’s recent work, with a defiantly emotional throughline.

“DOUBT,” the album’s lead single (and successor to last month’s “LIKED U BETTER”), follows that theme to a screaming crescendo. “Scream / It doesn’t matter anyway,” Rosenstock admits at the song’s genesis. As an irresistibly catchy guitar riff that mirrors Rosenstock’s own peaking vocals, the song’s lyricism flips a switch: “You gotta chill out with the doubt, the doubt, the doubt,” Rosenstock preaches from on high, a medicinally angry catchphrase that is as ready for mosh pits and as it is mental circuitboard resets.
