Julia Jacklin Officially Releases Her Well-Loved Take on The Strokes’ “Someday”

Two years after debuting her gentle, woozy cover of The Strokes’ “Someday” on triple j’s Like A Version, Australian crooner Julia Jacklin has officially released the performance via Polyvinyl Records.
You could call it alt-country, you could call it folky doo-wop, but whatever it is, it’s heartbreaking and hypnotic. Jacklin’s rendition strips back Albert Hammond Jr.’s jangling for slow, lingering strumming and layers vocal harmonies on top of a languid, melodic bass.
Her take on the 2001 garage-rock staple is certainly well-loved: The cover currently clocks in at 1.8 million views on YouTube, so it makes sense why the musician would add it to her official discography.
