Kendrick Lamar Teases a New Album

To paraphrase a line from Friday’s Big Worm: Why is Kendrick Lamar playing with our emotions?

This morning, the Compton MC wiped his entire Instagram account clean except for a stark black photo displaying a white number four written in Roman numerals. Of course the photo has no words or details attached, but that’s more than enough to get some 234,553 people (as of this writing) to like it on Instagram.

Quick math would reveal that the next record “King Kendrick” puts out will be his fourth studio LP, as untitled unmastered was a collection of tracks recorded while Lamar was working on To Pimp a Butterfly, rather than a proper album.

Speaking of To Pimp a Butterfly, K.Dot recently addressed a potential fourth album during an interview with T: The New York Times Style Magazine. In the interview, Lamar said that he’s “going back to my community” and asserted that the last record was about “addressing the problem,” but he’s now moved on from that. “We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God,” Lamar said. “Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system.”

As previously mentioned, there aren’t any details for whatever this is yet. So, while you wait, enjoy the still-great 2016 clip for Lamar’s “God is Gangsta,” and scrutinize his IG post for yourself beneath that.
