Kesha Announces New Album Gag Order

On May 19, pop icon and singer/songwriter Kesha will release her fifth album, Gag Order. Her first LP since 2020’s High Road, Gag Order is Kesha’s self-proclaimed transition into “post-pop,” and is a “full-bodied collection that flows like a stream-of-conscious journey through the psychedelic dark depths of the human psyche followed by basking in the cleansing light when finally reaching the surface.”

The album—which Kesha has been teasing on Instagram over the last month—was produced by Rick Rubin. In the recent 60 Minutes story on Rubin, Kesha made a cameo appearance. The first two singles from Gag Order, “Eat the Acid” and “Fine Line,” will be released on April 28.

“Without the darkness there is no light. So I let my darkness have the light. I can’t fight the truth. Life is difficult and painful. It is for everyone. An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, color to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably fucking miserable ones,” Kesha notes about Gag Order.

Pre-save Gag Order to get access to “Eat the Acid” and “Fine Line” on Friday here, and check out the album’s artwork below.
