Occasional musician and full-time Trump lapdog Kid Rock gave a candid interview about his friendship with the president for Sky News Australia’s Trump’s America: 250 Years in the Making, describing Trump’s administration as “the greatest shitshow on Earth” and bragging about his penchant for drunk-calling the commander in chief. The artist, born Bob Ritchie, is currently on his Rock The Country Tour celebrating America’s semiquincentennial. Speaking with Paul Murray, Richie said that being friends with Trump is “fucking awesome,” claiming that the president texts him “randomly” and revealing that one of his favorite “late-night drinking tricks” is calling Trump around “11 or 12 on Friday or Saturday.” “I know he’s up,” Ritchie said. “He sleeps like five hours [a night].” According to Richie, Trump is “so gracious” and “always picks up” so they can “shoot the shit.”
“I enjoy the hell out of hanging out with him and talking with him and just having a front row seat to the greatest shitshow on Earth,” Ritchie added—not, perhaps, a ringing endorsement of the functionality of Trump’s administration. The “Bawitdaba” singer has been connected to Trump and his cabinet repeatedly in 2026, teaming up with Pete Hegseth to ride in an Apache helicopter, appearing at the Oval Office to celebrate an executive order on ticket price reform, delivering a message at the Pentagon for Memorial Day, and performing at a Turning Point USA Super Bowl halftime show. The Sky News interview also gave Richie a platform to weigh in on immigration. “What the fuck are you thinking?” he said about the American border. “Get ‘em out!” But even Ritchie’s access to Trump has its limits. “He’s not calling me to [say], ‘Hey, what should we do in Iran, Bob?’” he revealed. “I don’t get those calls.”
