Exclusive: Kristin Chambers Shares “Yellow Moon,” First Single from Forthcoming Album Unravel Me

Seattle-based singer-songwriter Kristin Chambers has shared the first single off her upcoming album Unravel Me, out on Sept. 14. You can stream “Yellow Moon” now, exclusively at Paste.

The piano-based ballad is tranquil in its exploration of grief, first toeing the topic before entirely submerging itself in sadness as Chambers’ vocals layer and create a situation in which the depth of harmony increases alongside the gravity of the track.

Chambers says the song came to her while on a walk with her dog, shortly following the loss of a loved one.

“I remember exactly where I was when I heard ‘Yellow Moon’ in my mind … This walk is where I work out song ideas, or if I don’t have one, they often come to me on this daily walk,” says Chambers. “That day, my friends and I were still reeling from the loss of a friend who took his own life. I was pondering the grief longing his wife was feeling. Her need to see him one more time. It truly must have been almost unbearable. That’s where the song was born; in that time, on that walk. I wanted the song to feel lush in its production, like a soft blanket for grief.”
