Watch Kurt Vile’s New Documentary Short, (bottle back)

On the eve of the announcement of his 2018 album, Bottle It In, Philadelphia rocker Kurt Vile decamped to upper state New York’s Catskill Mountains to rehearse and prepare for the year ahead.

This little creative retreat has been captured in a 20-minute documentary released Thursday, titled (bottle back) and directed by Ryan Scott. The documentary is an intimate and insightful glimpse into Vile’s creative process that catches a solo acoustic adaptation of “Bassackwards,” a performance of “Check Baby” with The Violators, and a special backyard rendition of “Baby’s Arms” featuring The Sadies.

Vile plays a handful of festivals this autumn, including Levitation and Corona Capital, as well as a few U.S. headlining shows. You’ll find his full itinerary here.
