Kurt Vile Releases New Song “Timing is Everything (And I’m Falling Behind)” via Amazon
Photo by Matt Winkelmeyer/GettyPhilly psych-rocker and perennial Neil Young disciple Kurt Vile has put out a new track titled “Timing is Everything (And I’m Falling Behind).” It was released as an Amazon Original song Friday, so it’s available to purchase or stream exclusively on Amazon Music.
“Timing is Everything (And I’m Falling Behind)” has all the telltale signs of a Vile song: finger-picked and B-bended guitar, a nearly five-minute runtime and unassuming, irreverent lyrical content. It was recorded by Vile’s bandmate Kyle Spence and mixed by Peter Katis during a series of band rehearsals in Athens, Ga.
“[This song is] a candid snapshot of KV & the Violators ‘at home,’ where we like it: sparse and jangly and as live as possible,” Vile says. “This jam was one of many contenders for the last album, but we gonna start peeling ‘em off for ya now instead.”
“Timing is Everything (And I’m Falling Behind)” comes after the release of Vile’s tenth solo project Bottle It In last year, which came out on Matador Records to wide acclaim. Vile is embarking on a world tour behind the album that kicks off in February, and he’s just announced a whole slew of new dates that will extend the tour through June. Check out his full list of dates below, as well as the music video for the Bottle It In cut “One Trick Ponies,” which was one of President Barack Obama’s favorite songs of 2018.
