Jennifer Finch, the bassist of seminal grunge band L7, has been diagnosed with brain cancer that’s been progressing rapidly. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Finch, who has undergone multiple surgeries and requires intensive rehabilitation, physical therapy, and in-home care. She will be unable to join the rest of L7 on their upcoming Last Hurrah Tour.
“The Last Hurrah Tour was planned along with Jennifer when all four of us were in good health and spirits,” reads an official statement shared on the band’s Instagram. “Although she will not be able to join us for the upcoming U.S. dates, Jennifer has asked us to continue with the tour as planned. We will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority.”
Finch’s contributions are essential to L7’s legacy, her basslines the backbones of songs like “Pretend We’re Dead” and “Shove.” We wish her a safe and comfortable recovery. The statement from her band continues: “Jennifer is part of our family. We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.” You can add to that support by sharing and/or donating to her GoFundMe here.
