Levitation Music Festival Unveils Phase One of 2019 Lineup: Angel Olsen, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile, More
Levitation Music Festival has unveiled phase one of its 2019 lineup, a full four-day fete of post-metal, lo-fi, proto-grunge, psychedelia, folk rock and more stretching across multiple venues in the downtown sprawl of Austin, Texas, Nov. 7-10. We recently highlighted Levitation among 2019’s best U.S. music festivals, and today’s initial lineup certainly lives up that billing.
This year’s lineup (thus far) features festival favorite Angel Olsen, noise-rock veterans Dinosaur Jr., and Kurt Vile and his bandmates The Violators, among many more rockers of the head-banging variety (including Deafheaven and the spellbinding Chelsea Wolfe). Other notable acts on the bill include John Cale, Devendra Banhart, Kikagaku Moyo, Emma Ruth Rundle, Allah Las, The KVB and Death Valley Girls—a group not to be overlooked by any avid fans of Sleater-Kinney.
Levitation 2019 will be held in multiple venues spanning both East Austin and the downtown Red River Cultural District. The festival is partnering with an array of independent labels like Sargent House to bring festival-goers extra special events featuring eight of their artists, including Chelsea Wolfe and Deafheaven. Other participating labels include Relapse Records, Death By Audio, RidingEasy Records and Margin Walker Presents.
