According to the Los Angeles Police Department, rock legend Lindsey Buckingham was attacked by a woman in Santa Monica last Wednesday, March 25. The Fleetwood Mac frontman was on his way to an appointment when a woman with a history of stalking him tossed an unknown substance at him from a container. Buckingham was not harmed. Despite the suspect being “known to police,” no arrests have been made thus far. The Santa Monica Police Department turned the case over to the LAPD because the suspect has been linked to other incidents in the area.
Buckingham has a long history of dealing with stalking and harassing. In November 2024, the singer petitioned the court for a restraining order against Michelle Dick, an L.A. woman who he claimed had loitered outside of his and his family members’ homes, sent messages to Buckingham’s wife (in which she claimed she would kill the two spouses), and made a false 9-1-1 call to his house claiming a disturbance at the residence. In December of that year, Buckingham filed a request for the order. The request was granted, and Dick was mandated to stay at least 100 yards away from Buckingham, his wife, and his son. She was also barred from attempting to contact him.
Dick has not copped to throwing the mystery substance at Buckingham, but she admitted in an interview with KTLA that she had approached the singer last week and previously visited his Brentwood home. Dick has also claimed publicly that Buckingham is her birth father and that she “didn’t know” he held a restraining order against her.
Buckingham split from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 and subsequently underwent a triple bypass surgery, fearing the recovery process would leave him unable to sing ever again. In recent days, he has hinted at a reconnection with Stevie Nicks, whom he was long embroiled in a turbulent romantic relationship with. “What that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet,” Buckingham clarified in an Instagram video last month, “but I believe with all my heart that it will translate to something good and something wonderful and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”
This is a developing story.
